Join us this Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019 from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. for our annual Textile Day. We welcome the Cambridge Spinners and Weavers out for the afternoon. They will be demonstrating an Indigo Dye Bath in the Marr Shop backyard. Volunteers will also be busy at the spinning wheels and barn loom. Resident Education Program Interpreter Cat Haggert will be talking about the labour-intensive process for transforming the flax plant into a useful textile fibre. Work also continues on the quilt at the Gillen House. The tailor shop will be open for business. Come in and learn about traditional tailoring and dressmaking tools and techniques. Do you know what a Knitting Nancy and Lucette might be? Visit the Westbrook House to get your answer.
The General Store will be open and we have refreshing sodas and ice cream cups for sale. The costume committee also has a few things available for sale. Admission for an adult is $12.00, a senior 65+ is $10.00, a youth 6-17 years is $6.50 and a child 5 and under is free. We also accept the HCA Membership card for this event. Free admission for 2 adults and up to 4 youth. We look forward to seeing you soon!
