Hamilton Conservation Authority will be extending its closure of conservation areas, trails and our main office and other facilities until April 30, 2020 with the possibility of an extension as we follow the most current direction from the province and public health. This includes Westfield Heritage Village. This closure is a result of Provincial directions to close non-essential business operations and outdoor recreation facilities to support efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19.
At this time, HCA has also suspended all programs and events in our areas until May 25, 2020, which aligns with the City of Hamilton’s suspension of programs. This will include the Spring Show of the Christie Antique and Vintage Show and all events at Westfield Heritage Village that were scheduled prior to that date.
Members of the public are not permitted on any HCA owned and managed properties during this period of time, and those who access these properties are trespassing.
Municipal partners are aware of these closures. Those who choose to ignore the closures and park outside of these areas on municipal roadways may be subject to fines. Please respect the closures for the safety of our staff and the community.
For more information about how HCA operations and services are affected by the closure, please visit our COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions page.
Staff are working remotely and will continue to process permits and carry out regulation work as well as other mandated work including flood control and water testing.
HCA will monitor developments as well as provincial and local public health recommendations and reassess on an ongoing basis. The health and safety of our staff, volunteers and community is a top priority for Hamilton Conservation Authority. HCA continues to monitor the rapidly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
