Take a Maple March Break at Westfield!
Looking for a fun and family-friendly day out during March Break? There is nothing better than a visit to Westfield in spring where maple syrup is on tap on Wednesday March 14 and Thursday March 15 from 10AM to 4PM.
Maple syrup demonstrations and tours run throughout the day as well as free tractor-drawn wagon rides and a pancake breakfast sold and served by St. George Lion’s Club at the Ironwood Hall. The maple syrup program will also take place on Sundays in March and on Good Friday.
“If you’re looking for something outdoors, fun and educational, Westfield is perfect,” says Lisa Hunter, Program Coordinator at Westfield. “The space here is wonderful for kids to play and to learn – and for parents to enjoy the day, too.”
Westfield’s gorgeous 500-acre rural setting is a fun place to learn all about how maple syrup was made in early Canada, as well as the modern techniques used today. In the historic village, visitors can learn about traditional maple syrup making techniques used in 19th century Ontario and then take a picturesque walk to the modern sugar shack, where some of Westfield’s very own maple syrup is available for tasting. It’s sweet spring fun for the whole family!
“Westfield is a great place to enjoy the first signs of spring after a long winter,” says Hunter. “Visitors come for the maple syrup but then discover how beautiful it is here in March.”
Visit more than 30 historic buildings which are staffed by the village’s many volunteer interpreters who can share information and stories about both Ontario’s past and our local history. Visit the Gift Shop for a wide selection of maple products, including maple syrup, fudge, teas and candies. At the General Store you can purchase sweet treats.
