‘Twas the Night Before Christmas continues at Westfield

You have just two Saturdays left this month to experience the magic of Westfield Heritage Village’s ‘Twas the Night before Christmas holiday program. Saturday, December 9 and 16 from 5 to 9 PM you can step back in time to enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of Christmas past.

“Westfield is a very special place at nighttime, and that is especially true at this time of year,” says Lisa Hunter, Program Coordinator at Westfield. “The village is lit by lanterns and candlelight, and you can see the night sky in a way that you just can’t when you’re in the city. And this year, families will be able to enjoy a walk through our beautifully illuminated forest.”

At Westfield, you can experience Christmas as it would have been celebrated in the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian eras. The village is a feast for the senses. As you travel through the village, you will be surrounded by the wonderful scents of fresh pine, cinnamon and fresh baked Christmas goodies. Little ones can send a telegraph to the North Pole at the Railway Station, have a visit with Father Christmas, and make a traditional Christmas craft at the one room log schoolhouse. ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’ program includes carol sing-a-longs in the historic Mountsberg Church at 6:30 and 7:30 PM each night, led by the talented pianist Scott Whittington. For an extra special treat, a beautiful fireworks display will take place at 6:00 p.m.

“The fireworks are always a highlight of our Christmas program,” says Hunter. “This year, they will begin at 6 PM – just a little earlier than in previous years – so visitors will still have time to join in the carol singing or take part in the many other activities taking place.”

Hungry visitors will enjoy stopping by the Ironwood Hall for delicious foods prepared by the Farmhouse Kitchen. The menu features a variety of seasonal offerings, both sweet and savory, including light meals, desserts and hot and cold drinks. You can also shop for sweet treats and traditional Christmas ornaments at both the General Store and Gift Shop.

Westfield celebrates ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on Saturday, December 9 and Saturday, December 16 from 5 to 9 PM. Admission is $11 for adults, $10 for seniors and $6.50 for youth 6-17 years. Westfield offers a family rate (2 adults and two youth) for $30.00. Children 5 and under are free. Parking is free.

In the spirit of the season, Westfield will be accepting donations for local food banks. Please consider bringing a non-perishable food donation.
